Private Chef - Permanent - Los Angeles, California

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced private chef to join a beautiful family home in Los Angeles, California. It is essential that you have previous experience for UHNW families for 5+ years. You must be familiar with a keto and vegan diet. You will have the opportunity to travel with the family as required.

Responsibilities
  • Consistently prepare high-end restaurant-quality meals with exceptional taste and presentation
  • Use only organic or high-quality, or otherwise previously approved ingredients for preparing dishes for the family
  • Prepare frozen or refrigerated dishes with detailed reheating instructions for preparation on your days off
  • Maintain detailed and organised notes about the family preferences, favourite recipes and favourite ingredients for each family member, for your own reference, and also so that someone can fill in on your days off or while you are out and provide as consistent of an experience as possible
  • Prepare weekly menus offering both staple items and favourites along with surprise and innovative dishes for the family to select from
  • Communicate with the family in a timely manner for their meal selections to ensure that sufficient time is allowed to prepare family meals and obtain ingredients that are not already in stock
  • Shop for the freshest organic ingredients available and prepare menu items around the availability of items, such as a recommended or exceptional cut of meat or fish from the butcher
  • Take a daily inventory of all pantry and perishable items to ensure that there is sufficient supply for basic and weekly menu items
  • Promptly remove and never serve expired items from the home. Check all perishable items daily
  • Do not over purchase perishable and only purchase a reasonable quantity of pantry items to avoid waste
  • Work in close coordination with the Butler to ensure a smooth meal service
  • When a butler or suitable staff member is not available, always be willing and ready to serve meals yourself
  • Always keep the kitchen, refrigerators, freezers, pantries and food storage areas in a highly organised and extremely clean state
  • Wash dishes and thoroughly clean food preparation areas
  • Provide feedback to the Head Butler / Service Manager recommending improvements to protocols to improve service
Ideal Candidate
  • Prepare up to 4 different dishes for lunch and dinner, 5 days a week
  • Be able to cook keto, vegan, vegetarian, sushi, Italian, classic English, Mexican, BBQ and children’s meals as well as baby food
  • Be flexible enough to cook family recipes specifically as the family like them
  • Able to shop online as well as from market to obtain specific ingredients
  • Be able to prepare weekly menus ahead of time for approval
  • Have excellent hygiene and organisation skills for the F&B inventory
  • Ready to train housekeepers and butlers to cook breakfast and able and willing to help with service at the table when required
  • Happy to clean own kitchen, cooking areas and equipment
Package
Salary: $140k

Full health insurance

Standard US holiday allowance + 6 days PTO

Working Hours: 50hr week over 5 days: Friday and Saturday off (flexibility is required)
